For complex or large-scale construction and remediation projects, appointing an independent EtC is often critical. While some highly experienced principals may not require an EtC, most clients benefit significantly from knowledgeable oversight, particularly where disputes may arise.

The Dual Role of the Engineer to Contract
The independent Engineer to Contract performs two essential functions:
(a) Principal’s Agent
Acting on behalf of the principal to issue directions, supervise the works, and protect the principal’s interests in contract performance.
(b) Independent Certifier
Acting impartially to assess claims, value variations, and issue certificates in accordance with the contract.
